Are you ready for a dog?

We advise that you be considerate of all life factors before entering into puppy parenthood. Puppies take a lot of time, attention, patience and a loving and safe environment. We invest energy into getting to know our prospective puppy parents. We also reserve the right to refuse sale of any puppy to a buyer that we feel might not be in an appropriate stage of life, living situation or provide the right kind of care a new puppy needs throughout it's life.

First Few Months of Puppy

When you come to take your new puppy home, please bring a crate, leash, paper toweling and water (if you have a distance to drive).  Crating your puppy will be safer for everyone and puppy will be more comfortable than holding him/her.

Once you are home with your puppy be sure to make a vet appointment for puppy's next set of shots which will be needed when he/she is 12 weeks old.  NOTE:  when taking your puppy to the vet I always carry the puppy ... you never know if the floor has been soiled from a sick dog prior to your visit and your puppy could pick up disease because it is not fully protected until it receives all three sets of vaccinations which is not completed until your puppy is 16 weeks old.

It is also a good idea to look into getting your new puppy registered for puppy training classes!

Make sure you DO give your puppy enough water, but do NOT let them drink until they get sick. Sometimes puppies will have an upset tummy from changing homes, changing food, and changing water. Give them canned pumpkin to help with that. NOT pumpkin pie mix, just simply canned pumpkin (1 T. on their food).

DO NOT TAKE your puppy out in public ANYWHERE until all shots are given. This will keep them from picking  up any diseases that lurk in the grass. Dog parks are a NO NO right now! Other dogs besides your own are a NO NO. Make sure your dogs are current on all shots as well or your puppy is at risk for lots of things.
